The full DAW is free — looping, arrangement, mixing, plugin hosting, and save/load/export all work without spending anything. The AI features run on credits through SmartGroove’s managed cloud service; there are no API keys to configure. Sign in via Settings → Account to use them.

What things cost
Credits are usage-based — you are billed for the actual work the assistant does, never a flat per-message fee. Rough guide:
- A simple command (“set tempo to 120”, “add a reverb”): ~10–25 credits.
- A multi-step production command (“build me a lo-fi beat”): ~50–90 credits.
- AI audio generation (a short recorded loop or solo): ~200–250 credits.
Estimates vary with the length of the conversation and the work involved. Charges for audio generation are capped at the quoted estimate — the final charge can come in lower than the quote, never higher.
Checking your balance and spend
The chat panel shows your running cost after every turn. Your remaining balance and plan are visible any time in Settings → Account.
Running out of credits
When credits run out, the audio engine, looper, arrangement and plugins keep working normally — credits only gate the AI features. Your allowance refills at the next monthly reset, or immediately if you upgrade your plan.
Why credits stretch far
SmartGroove routes each request to a narrow domain specialist that carries only the tools it needs, caches the expensive parts of its instructions, and only ever sees the tracks and clips your request actually mentions. The result: the assistant does more, more accurately, for fewer credits than a design that re-sends everything on every message.
