Making music

The arrangement view

Build a full song on the timeline from clips and takes.

The Arrangement view is the timeline where you turn loops into a full song. Press Tab to switch to it from the Looper. Clips sit on track lanes along a bar/beat grid; drag them to move, and edit them in the Piano Roll (MIDI) or Audio Editor.

Timeline and clips

Loops captured in the Looper appear as clips you can place anywhere on the timeline. Drag clips to reposition them; they snap to the grid. Double-click a MIDI clip to open it in the Piano Roll (P), or an audio clip to open the Audio Editor (W).

Getting a loop onto the timeline

Each track header carries a →ARR button — “Commit loop to Arrangement”. It copies that track’s already-recorded looper take onto the timeline at the playhead, floored to the current bar, adding one lane per looper layer. The track must have a finished take: committing mid-recording does nothing. Repeated commits stack onto the same arrangement track rather than creating a new one.

You can also just ask the assistant (“commit this loop to the arrangement”, “send my looper MIDI to the timeline”) — it does the same thing from either view. When it commits while you are still looking at the Looper, it tells you the content is on the timeline; press Tab to see it.

Duplicating tracks and clips

Select a track header or a clip and press Ctrl/Cmd + D to duplicate it. Duplicating a track copies its inserts, sends, routing and clips; duplicating a clip copies the clip in place. Whether Ctrl+D duplicates the track or the clip follows your last selection — a track header gesture duplicates the track, a clip gesture duplicates the clip.

Grouping tracks

Multi-select tracks (Ctrl/Cmd-click or Shift-click for a range), then press Ctrl/Cmd + G to fold them into a group / summing bus with its own fader, pan and insert chain. Collapse the group to tidy the view; ungroup with Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + G. Grouped tracks still feed their individual sends.

Automation

Draw automation to change parameters over time — for example track or group volume and pan. Automation lanes live under the track and are saved with the project, so moves play back exactly each time.
